Meet our Founder

Anna Russell, otherwise known as PoppySeed, is an internationally acclaimed model, dancer, and entrepreneur. The daughter of a Ukrainian immigrant and single mother, Anna grew up in an underpriviledged area of Washington, D.C., in a small rent-controlled apartment. With her remarkable talent and relentless dedication, she earned numerous scholarships, awards, and opportunities that enabled her to travel the world and build a career beyond her wildest dreams.

As a pianist, Anna studied under the renowned Juilliard professor Oxana Yablonskaya and performed at esteemed venues, including the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Her modeling career brought collaborations with world-renowned photographers such as Lindsay Adler, Joe McNally, and Andreas Bitesnich. As a dancer, Anna has captivated audiences with visually stunning performances, blending her expertise in ballet, contortion, and aerial hoop artistry.

Recognizing the pivotal role her sponsors played in her journey, Anna envisioned creating a scholarship fund to pay it forward. The Poppy Fund for Young Artists is the realization of that vision, offering aspiring performers the resources and support to follow in her footsteps and achieve greatness.
